peeling back the layers...
Spring is finally here! but don't let the warm weather fool you people!
If you have lived in the Northeast your whole life, you know we could very possibly have one more snow fall!
So I am really taking this weather with a grain of salt...but it's the perfect weather for training to do a 5k!
In ess than 2 weeks my third month of training will come to an end.
I can feel that I am getting stronger and lasting longer....and I love it!
I'm peeling back the layers of fat...adding muscle...getting healthy...
but i can still feel my fat blobs around my back and side..you know...those muffins that don't want to go away! ugh. hate. them.
Today was a good day though. i ran my first full 5min! which for me is huge! this is what i did...
Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes) Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds) Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes) Walk 1/4 mile (or 2-1/2 minutes) Jog 1/4 mile (or 3 minutes) Walk 1/8 mile (or 90 seconds) Jog 1/2 mile (or 5 minutes)
For that first 5min jog, i needed to take 2 power pauses to catch my breath. the second 5min jog, i made it through! BOOYAH!
Hopefully i will be able to complete my first 5k this May! fingers crossed!
I've fasted successfully 4 Sundays in a row...this Sunday will be my 5th. I'm not sure it's something I will do every week. Although, I may incorporate it into my routine once or twice a month.
For me, protein is my friend. But it's getting more difficult to sustain this nutrition plan. It should be getting easier. I think my old habits are trying their best to rear their ugly heads again. So once again, I'm peeling back the layers of 'why'.
Getting down to the emotional part of it all is just yet another challenge. I can do this through Christ, who strengthens me!
I remind myself that Christ suffered way more than I am because I don't want to eat a cookie, or have that slathered-in-butter bagel. If Christ could endure what He did for me, I can endure nights without snacks and push through the pain of being breathless during a work out.
I know that might seem a bit of a stretch to compare the two, but really it's not. I am doing this to honor the body that God gave me, and to get healthy before I get too sick to get healthy...for my God...for my family...for me.
It's not a stretch at all.
